Crystal Opal contains gem colours in a transparent or translucent body. Crystal opal is extremely beautiful; the high quality gem shows a distinct and very bright play-of-colour. Crystal Opal is also used to make opal doublets or inlay jewellery. High quality crystal opal is mined at Andamooka S.A. as well as at Lightning Ridge.
